Low Vision

Age related eye disorders like Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy and others are increasing as more people are living well into their 70's, 80's, 90's and beyond.

Low vision exists when ordinary glasses, contact lenses, medical treatments or surgeries are unable to correct a person's sight to a normal functional range.

The goal of Low Vision is to maximize the usable sight that a person does have and enhance it so they can perform routine tasks like reading, writing, watching T.V., controlling glare, walking, and distance work

Many people have been told that the doctor can't improve their reading with conventional glasses. With a Low Vision evaluation, a very high percentage of patients regain their ability to read normal print, newspaper, and even read their correspondence.

Low Vision aids range from special reading glasses, hand held and stand magnifiers, closed circuit televisions, glare control sunglasses, T.V. glasses, and telescopes.
